Are you having a little vacation on the Costa Brava and run into some bad weather? Don’t worry, this is not the reason to leave. There are many activities and experiences to do, even if the weather is unfortunate. We have created a list if all the activities that are great to do in Empuriabrava or Roses if the weather is bad.
- Butterfly Park
How about escaping the wind of Empuriabrava in one of the warmest climates of all - the tropics!
The Butterfly Park in Castelló d'Empúries is the dream place for all nature lovers. There you can find all sorts of exotic birds, mammals and of course butterflies. Many of the animas are there are rescues as their previous owners could not care for them anymore.
This is a great activity for the whole family, as everyone can enjoy feeding the birds with nectar and interact with them; some of the parrots there are very friendly and curious.
- Windoor Empuriabrava
Adrenaline is the way to go to quickly warm up on a cold day! Indoor skydiving is a fun and memorable experience that the whole family to enjoy. You can feel the sensations of skydiving in a safe and controlled environment with the assistance of a professional instructor. After enjoying a flight in the tunnel, you are welcome to sit back at the bar and watch the professionals show of their tricks.
- Cinema
A safe and relaxing option that can be great for anyone. Pick the movie that fits you the most, indulge in the best snacks and enjoy. P.s. Every Thursday all the movies in the Roses Cinema are shown in English.
There is a large parking lot just across form the cinema and the tickets are always available for purchase in the cinema itself (no need for the online reservations).
- Road trip to Girona
A change of location might be the way to go. Let’s not drive of too far, 30 minutes would be a perfect way to escape the bad weather and explore a magnificent new town of Girona. Full of culture, green parks, and a unique food scene, it can be the perfect place to spend the day. The old town of Girona is breathtaking, with the narrow stone streets and the famous Cathedral.
- Bowling
A classic, the perfect place to hide away from any severe weather. Bowling in Empuriabrava can be a fun way to bring some joy and competition into any vacation. Have a fun game, order a few drinks and snacks. What could be better during sad weather?
- The beach
Crazy right? Well, in our opinion it could be very romantic and memorable. Imagine, walking on the beach, and being the only ones there? How wonderful is that? A suggestion from us would be to put on some raincoats and bring a hot thermos of coffee, this will defiantly bring some joy and help you warm up.
P.s. if you are travelling with a dog, you would be pleased to know that, in Empuriabrava there is a large dog friendly beach called ‘La Rubina’.
- Cozy day inside
The traditional way to hide from the strong ‘Tramontana’ winds. Bring down the shutters, close the curtains and switch on your favorite movie. The benefit of staying at a vacation rental is that you can make you feel at home. Be sure to run to the grocery store and stock up on all the comfort foods and don’t forget the hot chocolate and mini marshmallows!
